Michael Anderle was born in Houston, TX. A very curious child, he got into trouble — a lot. What to do with an inquisitive mind when he was grounded? Read!

For his first 20 years, he mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years, he has enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, he created The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling and fan-loved collection of stories. Fans have propelled these stories beyond Anderle’s wildest imagination and Anderle says they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street.

What author would you totally fan?

1. Nathan Lowell (and have – Woot!)
2. John Conroe (and blessed to have interviewed him on a podcast.)
3. John Ringo because his work taught me about scenes I enjoy from the antagonist’ point of view.

What makes you cringe?

1. Trite dialogue and the phrases similar to ‘jumped higher than he had ever before’ or ‘run faster than she had ever before.’ And the word ‘literally’.

Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?

1. Very light beats for the story to make sure I know what the plot points will be. I’m not a true pantser whatsoever.

Is there a word you love to use?
I can get on kicks with a particular word. My editor knows when I’ve picked up some word from pop culture and I just use it way too many times.
As a young author, I loved, loved, loved the use of cursing in my stories. I’ve cursed so much, I don’t like it as much but I’ve never thought that ‘darn’ or ‘dang’ ever resonated with my find if, for example, my character had just slammed a hammer on their finger.
