Nothing is more important to Amelia Cox than her faith. As she enters puberty, she vows to remain a virgin and not share herself with another man until her wedding day. So begins the journey as she searches for her happily ever after.
Amelia grows into a beautiful, desirable woman and finally catches the eye of Gabriel, the man she’s loved since they were kids in Sunday school. Amelia must now reconcile her budding sexuality and her desire to remain faithful to herself. Will she be able to remain committed to her vow when the raging 1960s culture around her screams otherwise?
Along her journey, Amelia learns patience, forgiveness, perseverance, and ultimately love. In Straight as an Arrow, the bedroom door is thrown open wide to reveal what really takes place in the marriage bed of the faithful.

The cover is so cute and romantic!
I enjoy finding new authors.
Karen-I’m a very OLD author…but have been writing since I was 17 years old. My first manuscript I sent off to Random House Publishing Co. Needless to say it was returned. So I didn’t write again for 50 years. But then I joined my local public library that had a Writers’ Club and I’ve been righting ever since. I hope you will enjoy the read.
This sounds like a very good book.
Sherry- from Glasgow, KY–Virginia has a Glasgow too-only about 12 miles from where I live in the foothills of the Jefferson National Forest. Though 17 years separate us in age, I hope you can relate to Amelia and Gabriel’s story.
Great era setting for this story line!
Ms. Virginia C-From one Virginian to another-thank you. It was an era I knew well having grown up in a Southern town in Virginia where folks were still conservative and God-fearing with values passed down to us from our parents and grandparents. I hope I was able to describe the flavor and morality of the times.
Congrats on the new book! It sounds wonderful.
Bonnie, thank you. I’m hoping that it touches women out there. Bless you for your kind words.
nice cover
bn100 – Mascot found just the right concept for Straight As An Arrow showing the innocence and job that comes from young love. Their art department blew me away…and I fell in love with my own book!
It looks like a good read.
Miss Leela, I hope you will like the telling of a young girl growing up in a simpler though troublesome time.
A beautiful cover and an intriguing synopsis, this sounds like a must read for me. Thank you for sharing your author interview and book details, I have enjoyed reading about you and your work and am looking forward to reading your story
Thank you for your kind words, Ms. LaRocca, I sincerely hope you enjoy the read as it was a labor of love for me to write it. To go back in time to tell of the experience of one lonely girl growing up in America. was very cathartic. I image there were many young ladies who felt much like Amelia did in the turbulent, ever-changing times of the 1960s and 1970s.
Danielle-I look at the cover of Straight As An Arrow everyday and fall a little more in love with it. I sent 1970s pictures to Mascot so they could get the era look down pat…a few tweaks here and there and I believed their art department nailed the look I was going for—innocence and joy of a first love. To me–it was a very romantic time. Hope you love the book as much as I enjoyed writing it. It was was a true labor of love.
This cover is so sweet & pretty.
Thank you, Jana Leah for your kind comment.
