Mandy Reynolds needs a reset on life in so many ways. Her acting career isn’t exactly where she’d hoped it to be. She can’t even get a job as a germ for a commercial. When she inherits half a house she sees it as a sign and heads home to Heavenly Falls, Illinois. She’ll sell the house, and use the money to take her career to the next level in Los Angeles. That is if she can convince her hard-headed––and stupidly gorgeous–– ex-stepbrother, Alex Noonan, to sell fast.
The last time Alex saw Mandy, she was a gangly teen, who followed him around like a sad puppy. But she’s grown into a smart and funny woman, who is as frustrating as she is beautiful. The fact that they have to live in the house––together––while they fix it up, is one temptation he doesn’t need. And while he’s having fun spending time with her, she’s moving on soon, and he needs time to heal.
Plus, she has no idea he’s got a secret that could put a monkey wrench in all of her plans…
INTERVIEW
What is on your nightstand?
Water, lip balm, my Kindle, my iPhone, a bible, and my 2020 Magical Almanac.
What author would you totally fan?
Oh man. Just one? There’s so many. If I had to pick one author on my auto-buy list that I haven’t had a chance to meet in RL yet, I’d say KJ Charles.
What makes you cringe?
People humiliating themselves in public
Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?
I call myself a “Plotser”. When I first started writing I tended to “Pants” it a lot, meaning having a basic idea for a story, but just going with the flow where the scenes were concerned. But now, because of my busy writing schedule and deadlines (and the fact that it can be months from the time I submit a proposal to my agent/editors to when I actually write the book), outlines are essential for me. I created a hybrid one that works for me and I sketch out all the scenes, as well as do character bios/wound sheets for the hero and heroine ahead of time. That way I can make sure I hit all my beats and plot points of the story and it makes some kind sense with their character arc while still leaving room for creative “aha” moments along way. That way when I sit down months later to actually write it, its all there for me to go over and refresh my memory so I can dive right in.
Is there a word you love to use?
I love to sneak in a “kerfuffle” or “discombobulated” whenever I can. LOL.
Clara is my 14-year-old unofficial writing partner. She’s six pounds of Pomeranian attitude. ☺

You made me laugh out loud when I read that you tend to “Pants” it when you’re writing. It took me only a minute to figure out that you’re flying by the seat of your pants.

Having to live in an inherited home with a half sibling makes for an interesting mix of power plays. Siblings know what buttons to push to get a reaction and to manipulate the playing field so they have the advantage. Or so you let them think.
Sounds wonderful! Beautiful cover, too!
