On a sweltering summer day, Daisy Aldridge knocks on the wrong door. She’s yanked inside. Trapped and pressed against her only means of escape she spirals into a panic. Years ago she suffered an assault. Alone and afraid, she kept it hidden and dealt with the emotional aftermath in her own way.
But this time she’s not alone. She’s helped by a man who seems vaguely familiar. Roy Blackwood is gorgeous, powerful, and controlled. She tells herself she wants nothing to do with him.
Roy sees through her resistance and is determined to unravel the mysteries of Daisy. He promises to find the identity of her birth parents and unveil the person who leaves her anonymous gifts. And most important of all, earn the love and trust of Daisy Aldridge.

- What is on your nightstand?
Like literally? Books, obviously. Dust. Picture of my stepson when he was ten. Kleenex. You want to know about the books. One Night Promised, by Jodi Ellen Malpas. House of Leaves, by Mark Danielewski. The Fishing Fleet: Husband Hunting in the Raj, by Anne de Courcy. Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon
- What author would you totally fan?
Tiffany Reisz. I kept seeing her book, The Siren, pop up. Then I had friends telling me about it. I know this sounds terrible, but I didn’t care for the cover. Finally, I relented. I was enthralled. She is a master of dialogue. I’m not someone who likes pain. It takes some good writing to make me interested in reading about masochists and sadists.
- What makes you cringe?
All the Russell Stover chocolate I ate yesterday. A pre-Valentine’s Day gift. Okay, serious now. I cringe at the crazy things I did in my youth. And my less than stellar choices in boyfriends. I had a bad patch until I met my husband. He’s wonderful.
- Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?
Good God No! Some writers swear by plotting, but it’s not for me. I start with an idea and go from there. My characters take me places I could never plan out ahead.
- Is there a word you love to use?
Fabulous. It’s a great go-to word when you don’t know what to say. It can be sarcastic or literal.
Now for the best part:
We’ve adopted four shelter animals. Two cats and two dogs. Don’t know what we’d do without them.

It sounds like a riveting story, and so interesting how you write it. I give you credit, I could sit in front of my computer all day, coffee or not, and no words would come out, except ‘shopping list,’ and the like! I love your little doggies – so cute!

Some animal pics look cute, but cats are shifty esp. that grey, white, and black stripped cat. Lol

The cover is beautiful! MAkes you want to dive in!
I love that you adopted shelter pets!!! Out Bastet is also adopted from the shelter as well, Nefertiti was rescued from a farm in Indiana when she was a kitten and Pharaoh was a gift from a friend in the Navy ~ we don’t believe in “buying”our pets even our purebred (Pharaoh) ~ although Nefertiti does have a lot of “farm cat” tendencies (like hissing at the walls for no apparent reason and not getting along with humans outside of family) but hey we love her. Bastet was definitely a GEM to find in the shelter, she’s a Bombay/bengal Mix and super smart and extremely loving yet a tad bit…..rambunctious she’s almost 2 but still growing and still VERY kitten like…
Love the look of the book too, VERY intrigued
I am intrigued by the excerpts of this book. It sounds like a story I can fall in to.
