I found a copy of Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses in a 2nd hand bookshop in London when it was first banned. I was really nervous on the flight back to Ireland in case I got stopped!

That book hit so close to home with me; I cried so hard and ached so deeply I haven’t read it again.

I can’t believe books are still being banned in this day and age… I’d say it was Harry Potter, off the top of my head (I’ve seen 1984 mentioned, but I read that one first)

Mark Twain’s “Letters From the Earth”. It was banned for years after it was written, and is hard to find now. Brilliant political/social satire.

I don’t remember which books are banned and which aren’t, as I don’t think of books being banned, if that makes sense. To me books are something to read, not a propaganda item that has to be hidden because it was “banned.” Who said it was banned? And who banned it, from where? lol That’s just silly to me 🙂 If I want to read it, I’m gonna buy it and read it!
