Collages of vintage magazine cuttings and found materials create surreal, humorous imagery that evokes nostalgia for the golden years of printed ephemera. Portraits of fictitious characters and graphical records of bizarre conversations that have never happened fill this colorful book. Nick White skillfully creates playful anecdotes in his unique style.
This is a very interesting book full of unique artwork and little vignettes of one or two pages that recreate conversations that the author / artist have had or may have either in reality or just in his mind. This book probably isn’t for everyone but I can see this appealing to people that enjoy odd things and English humor. That is something you get or don’t.
It reminds me of something I would find in Urban Outfitters or that weird store that only hipsters seem to enjoy. The artwork is something that is hit or miss. Some of them look like thing a child would produce and others have a lot of depth and layers. Overall, this would make the perfect gift for that person you never know what to get.
