Welcome to the

CHILDREN’S BOOK WEEK  GIVEAWAY HOP

The need for Children’s Book Week today is as essential as it was in 1919, and the task remains the realization of Frederic Melcher’s fundamental declaration: “A great nation is a reading nation.”  You can find out more about CHILDREN’S BOOK WEEK  here.

This hop starts at 9am Eastern on May 1, 2016.

As I update the linky below, I will mark the blogs with open giveaways with  ~ mark before each name.  If the mark is behind the name, the link is there, but I haven’t verified it yet.

    The first books I read were the Dick and Jane books at school. At home I read Golden books that my mom would buy me. After that, I read Bobsey Twins and I loved them.

    I don’t remember reading books until I was in school and I learned to read. I’m sure my mom must have read to me. We read Fun with Dick & Jane books.

    I had quite a collection of Golden Books that my parent’s read to me. The first chapter book I remember reading by myself was The Secret Garden.

    The first books I read were the Janet and John series in England but my favorite books were by Enid Blyton especially Shep the Sheepdog.

    Dick and Jane was my first read but I remember when Dr. Seuss was considered bad literature! We had cousins with all the books and couldn’t wait to go there so we could read them all!

    I honestly don’t remember what the first book I read was. I don’t have any memories before 3rd grade. I know that I must have read the Dick Jane and Spot books in first grade in order to be able to go to second grade.

    I can’t really remember, but a ladybird book (Children’s first readers) of farm animals rings a bell. I suspect Winnie the Pooh came early on!

    I remember reading a book about a dog that performed in a circus. I’ve searched and searched but none of the dog/circus picture books are the right one so I still don’t know the title. Other than that, I remember Stuart Little being one of the first chapter books I read.

    The first book I remember reading is a Mother’s Goose Stories book that was given as a baby gift when I was born, and, it’s very worn, but I still have it!
