January 4, 2016 By Mary

Book Trailer Tuesday (1)

The Magicians – Mondays on SyFy

Welcome to Brakebills University. Welcome to a world where magic is real. Based on the books by Lev Grossman.

The Shannara Chronicles – Tuesdays, MTV – based on the Terry Brooks fantasy series.  ELVES – I am sold!

From MTVwebsite

Coming to MTV in January 2016, ‘The Shannara Chronicles’ is a new TV series based on the best-selling fantasy novels by Terry Brooks. Set thousands of years after the destruction of our civilization, the story follows an Elven Princess, Amberle, a half-human half-elf, Wil, and a human, Eretria, as they embark on a quest to stop a Demon army from destroying the Four Lands.

Shadowhunters – Tuesdays, ABC – they better not mess this one up.  The promo looks like they nailed it.

Lucifer – Fox, Mondays

From Fox Website

Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, the original fallen angel, Lucifer Morningstar has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub.   Based on the characters created by  Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint.

War & Peace, Mondays, Lifetime

From Lifetime’s website:

Lifetime, A&E Network and HISTORY will air the limited series event based on Leo Tolstoy’s enduring novel War and Peace. Simulcasting in the US on the three networks on January 18, 2016, “War and Peace” features an all-star cast including SAG Award® and Film Independent Spirit Award winner Paul Dano (“12 Years a Slave,” “Little Miss Sunshine”), Lily James (“Cinderella,” “Downton Abbey”), James Norton (“Happy Valley”), Golden Globe® winner Gillian Anderson (“The X Files,” “Hannibal”), Oscar®, Golden Globe and BAFTA winner Jim Broadbent (“Moulin Rouge!,” “Iris”) and others.

Beowolf, Saturdays, Esquire Network

From Esquire Website

Beowulf has arrived. Kieran Bew, William Hurt and Joanne Whalley come together in a new retelling of the epic legend, where a haunted warrior finds new foes beyond the Mudborn and within his kinsmen. Beowulf premieres January 23 on Esquire Network.

Fingers crossed!  I heard that this is much better than the book LOL!

11.22.63 premiering on Presidents Day 2016 on Hulu.

Based on the Stephen King book, so it should be good.

Westworld -no date yet HBO

Michael Crichton story retold.

Vinyl-  Thursdays, HBO

1970 Sex, Drugs,  and Rock and Roll

Angel from Hell – Thursdays, CBS  Jane Lynch!  This one reminds me a lot of some of my favorite snarky hell books. I love Jane Lynch so I hope it is as good as the promo.

So many good ones, as if I don’t have enough to catch up on already. Pet peeve is starting to watch a show and then they cancel it with a cliffhanger. Have you seen Netflix Daredevil series? It’s really good.
