  11. kathyhearewatts – I have been married for 39 years to the love of my life, Steve. We are blessed with 3 children and 10 grandchildren. I was an Army brat so I lived everywhere. We currently live in Sevierville TN which is at the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. This is truly God’s country. Besides reading I enjoy cooking and spending time with family.

    Soft Molasses Cookies

    ½ cup soft butter/margarine (1 stick)
    ½ cup vegetable shortening
    1½ cup sugar
Mix together until light and fluffy (use mixer)
½ cup molasses (spray with Pam in measuring cup for easy release)
    2 eggs (lightly beaten)
Beat into creamed mixture (use mixer)
    4 cups all purpose flour
    ½ teaspoon salt
    2¼ teaspoon baking soda
    2¼ teaspoon ginger
    1½ teaspoon clover
    1½ teaspoon cinnamon
Mix all dry ingredients together into a separate bowl and then blend with moist mixture until well blended (Kitchen Aid mixer is handy!)
Roll dough into 1½” balls, dip tops in sugar (I gently shake in a bowl with sugar) and place on greased cookie sheet 2″ apart (they will flatten out.) Note: I use a ball scoop to make my ball and then roll them in my hand to make them round, but the scoop helps keep them even in size.
Bake at 350º for 11 minutes. DO NOT OVER BAKE!
After completely cooled (several hours) store in tightly sealed container. I think you should get about 4 dozen.

  14. donnadmb – I love God and my family, like reviewing products, giveaways, cowboy boots, horses, good food, strong coffee, banjo music and books. I am the Mama of 3, Grand Mama of 4 and grateful receiver of more good gifts than one heart can hold. I struggle daily with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, so I have a big heart, what's wrong with that? I fight for joy and find it in the most unexpected places. I make quirky look normal, relish in my small town Southern way of living, and am learning that it's all grace--every last bit of it.

  27. cristigutierrez – I am a mom and grandma. I began reading at age 3 and haven't stopped yet. The first book I read was Barney the Beagle, still a favorite. I hung out a lot at local libraries and can now be found around town with Kindle in hand. I collects cookbooks and faeries, enjoys hiking and movies. Much like my reading habit of giving any and all books a chance, I will watch any movie that catches my attention. I love my family and friends.

I’m going to try the recipe for Soft Molasses Cookies because I can modify so I can the cookies and they sound delicious. YUM! I might make those tomorrow. What was the question??? Oh! I answered it.
