This is the second book in the Copper Ridge series and I haven’t read the first one. The author does a great of providing the setting if you haven’t read any of the other books.
Liss and Conner have been best friends for years and was close with his now deceased wife. She always had a crush on him and didn’t make a fuss when he married Jess. She was loyal to both of them, but now, with Jess gone, Liss must decide if she should recognize that she still has feelings for Conner and take a chance that he might not reciprocate them. Now if Conner can only see that Liss is right for him. There is a lot of tension between the pair as they come to realize that the time is right for the two of them. Now if Conner can only see that Liss is right for him.
Liss seriously has her job cut out for her. Conner is moody and drinks because of his loss. At times, I wanted to shake Liss and say “why bother” but I could tell that she loved him and wanted to see him through his dark time. There is also a bit of humor mixed with this darkness, so it is on an even keel but still very emotional for me to read. I am now going back to read the first one and can’t wait for the third. Wonderful HEA.
In 2009, at the age of twenty-three Maisey sold her first book. Since then it’s been a whirlwind of sexy alpha males and happily ever afters, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Maisey divides her writing time between dark, passionate category romances set just about everywhere on earth and light sexy contemporary romances set practically in her back yard. She believes that she clearly has the best job in the world.
