Following your heart can be a crime
A royal wedding is what most girls dream about. It means one celebration after another: balls, fireworks, and revelry until dawn. But to Kestrel it means living in a cage of her own making. As the wedding approaches, she aches to tell Arin the truth about her engagement: that she agreed to marry the crown prince in exchange for Arin's freedom. But can Kestrel trust Arin? Can she even trust herself? For Kestrel is becoming very good at deception. She's working as a spy in the court. If caught, she'll be exposed as a traitor to her country. Yet she can't help searching for a way to change her ruthless?world . . . and she is close to uncovering a shocking secret.?
This dazzling follow-up to The Winner's Curse reveals the high price of dangerous lies and untrustworthy alliances. The truth will come out, and when it does, Kestrel and Arin will learn just how much their crimes will cost them.

I am so excited to be part of this wonderful tour! You can read my review of The Winner’s Curse HERE and don’t forget to play a rousing game of Bite and Sting HERE just like Kestrel! You can also check out the series website HERE
The ‘Winner’s Curse’ is an economics term that means you’ve gotten what you wanted – but at too high a price.
What would you pay too much for?
Right now, I have three family members with cancer and I would love to have enough money to find a cure. It is a horrible disease and it hit my family all at once. If I had all of the money in the world, I would pay for a cure. I know it couldn’t be just that simple since money has been thrown at this disease for decades, but I know that a cure will be found and there are things that can be done to extend life. I am so glad that they are still alive and treatment is working for one, another one has exceeded the prognosis and the last will be fine. Every day is a gift.
MY THOUGHTS ON THE WINNER’S CRIME
Kestrel is now engaged to the Emperor’s son and the crown prince. Her father is still off waging war and she finds court life monotonous and silly. While the court is preparing for wedding, a representative of the Harrani court is summoned to the palace. She sacrificed everything for Arin to be safe and now he is jeopodizing that by showing up in the most unsafe place for the both of them. Of course, Kestrel must play Bite and Sting for real and this time, she can’t seem to win in a very dangerous game of spying for the Harrani court and to try to keep Arin alive while underestimating the games of life played by the Emperor.
Arin flees the court after Kestrel lies to him about her affections for him and that in turn sends him on a reckless course across the sea to gain the alliance of the Queen of the East. Oh, so many little subplots are going on here which I hope are cleaned up in the final installment. Even though the crown prince is his father’s son, he really likes Kestrel and tries to keep her from making fatal mistakes. She doesn’t listen to anyone but her heart and then it is almost to late for her to be saved. Yes, you probably heard my screams at this point.
Overall , this second book in the series does not fall to the sophomore curse, and propels the story forward while weaving even more intrigue and plot twists than I can summarize in a few paragraphs and spoil everything. Just trust me on this one: the story gets even better and now with more of Arin’s point of view, it gets a lot deeper. This is such a wonderful story that has a bit of romance, a lot of intrigue and action. Now, I am desperately waiting for the conclusion.
