PLEASE WELCOME LISSA TO BOOKHOUNDS
Here is my standard poodle, Jade, with Dixon, my daughter’s boxer mix. Look at Jade’s dirty paws! White dog and oodles of mud. Ugh!!
Do you have a special memory of Valentine’s Day?
Yes, I do! Valentine’s Day 2014, just last year, was very special because my husband, who was in a serious road bike accident on January 5, 2014, was able to walk in and out of the restaurant on his own, without the walker he had been using since the accident. It was our first outing for something fun since he was hurt, and it was probably my most memorable Valentine’s Day ever.
Dark, Milk or White Chocolate? Or none of the above?
I am definitely a milk chocolate girl! I love it in any form—with nuts, with toffee, with caramel, with peanut butter, on top of ice cream, in pie, on pie, beside pie, with cake, on top of cake, in the same room as cake. You get the picture! Although, I am not a fruit and chocolate lover, so that is out. But in any other form milk chocolate is just plain wonderful.
What would be your perfect way to celebrate on Valentine’s Day?
With my husband, at a romantic restaurant, maybe one with a spectacular view of Portland, Oregon where we live. Delicious food, good drink, my guy and me relaxing and enjoying a quiet evening together. Oh, and dessert. Maybe something milk chocolate with pie, cake or ice cream!
Do you have a favorite romance author?
I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Her books are funny, poignant and so well done, especially the characterizations, not to mention she writes a great hero! Plus, I’ve seen her speak several times, and she’s a hoot, and so real. I’ve always wanted to be her!
Do you think eReaders make it easy for people to read romance?
I actually fought getting an eReader, proclaiming I would go to my grave clutching a paper book to my chest. But my son gave me one for Christmas a few years ago, and I have to say, I LOVE it! It’s so nice to be able to shop for books on the fly wherever I’m reading. Plus, I never run out of reading material (which would be a disaster for me!) and being able to read in bed after the lights go out and my husband is asleep is wonderful. Oh, and I love being able to read a sample of a book before I buy. So, given my positive experience, I would say, yes, eReaders make it easier for people to read romance. No excuses not to read with an eReader around. Although as a voracious reader, I can’t imagine making an excuse not to read. But if one did make an excuse, an eReader cancels it out for sure. That has to be good for romance novels, right?
