PLEASE WELCOME JASSY TO BOOKHOUNDS
- What is on your nightstand?
I’m currently writing a new romance, so find it hard to read fiction because it interferes with the voices in my own head. On my nightstand at the moment is a selection of Bill Bryson books. They are fabulously entertaining and full of interesting facts – and the travel ones are very useful for getting the flavor of exotic places.
- What author would you totally fan girl?
Lisa Gardner. I love her writing, and really admire that she has been a successful author of both romances and thrillers.
- Do you laugh at your own jokes?
Of course… somebody has to!
- Are you worried that your google history will get you into trouble?
Oh, yes. I think every writer is convinced of that. Every time there’s a knock on the door, I worry it’s the FBI coming to ask a few questions. And because of my browser history, I could never take my computer in to get it repaired. If it breaks, I’ll have to bury it in the garden and go out and buy a brand new one.
- Do you obsessively plot out each point or just go with the flow?
I go with the flow, but it’s not always the easiest way to write, and often means doing quite a bit of rewriting.
Astor+Blue Editions is proud to be releasing a wild new erotica novel, Drowning by Jassy DeJong: available at all major book retailers October 10th! (ISBNs: 978-1-938231-96-4 paperback, 978-1-938231-97-1 ePub, 978-1-938231-98-8 ePDF; Romance & Erotica; $12.95 paperback, $4.95 eBook.)
You may already be familiar with the author’s impressive resume of heart-pounding thrillers (written under the name Jassy Mackenzie). A newcomer to this genre, Jassy DeJong pulls all the stops to create a vivid, romantic picture of a luxurious resort in South Africa where forbidden love runs rampant and one woman is faced with a complicated choice.
Sensuous but stifled New York City photographer Erin Mitchell thinks going to South Africa on assignment will be the perfect getaway. But when a flash flood washes away Erin’s vehicle and she is stranded at a luxury safari lodge, Erin’s romantic working vacation takes an interesting turn. She awakens from her near-drowning and meets her rescuer, Nicholas—hot and brilliant, successful and caring—not at all like her abusive husband. At Leopard Rock in the steamy South African heat, Erin faces the toughest choices of her life. Nicholas is ripped, he’s smart and he’s “no strings attached.” The question of whether to give in or not to give in drowns Erin’s senses as she struggles with two impossible goals: ignore the exquisite physical charms of her host, and conceal every last detail whenever her controlling husband calls. On the other side, Nicholas faces impossible choices of his own, as his bon vivant playboy lifestyle may just possibly collide with feelings more powerful than lust.
Erotic. Exotic. Emotional. Drowning sizzles as one woman is stretched to the breaking point by the strength of her vows and the intensity of her seething primal desires.

“…a most delicious blend of page-turning storytelling and no-holds-barred erotica.”

“Racy, well-written erotic romance with a page-turning plot: a feisty, likeable heroine with tough choices to make, complex men, sizzling sex, and an avocative African bushveld backdrop—what’s not to love?”
—Helena S. Paige, author of A Girl Walks into a Bar
