The journey to love is tough (especially for the hero), but tests the character of both hero and heroine.
Surrender plots involve an extreme situation that throws a man and woman together. Romance flourishes partly because the man has the strength of character to surrender to the woman he cannot help but love. My “strong, alpha man” is a man used to leading, taking charge, and being successful in life. Circumstances will take him out of this comfort zone as he confronts a determined woman who wants or needs him to surrender to her will. Resistance has uncomfortable consequences – note these stories have BDSM themes. However, in a Romance the hero and heroine work past the obstacles to fall in love and my characters are no different.
