MY THOUGHTS
LIKED IT


Sam starts out as a entrepreneur at a young age, organizing teen dances for cash and later taking over his father’s advertising agency during the go-go Sixties.  The story goes full circle through his entire life hitting the highs and lows like his father dying (loved the dad’s grouchiness), relationships, partying and then the downfall.  The are familial insights into Sam’s character and the pressure he receives and those same pressures he puts on himself to succeed.  I have only watched a few episodes of Mad Men, but you can see the author is a fan since there are similarities between the characters and there are a lot of characters in this book.  The writing has a great balance of humor and pathos while telling the tale of one man’s life.
