Friday PhoDOGraphy

March 2, 2012 By Mary

Schatze has had a rough week.  We went for a long walk last Tuesday and by Friday, she could barely move.    She was stepped on when she was a puppy, so she has always had a bit of a limp and a skip in gait. Right now, she is on anti inflammitories and acts like nothing is wrong, but for about an hour when she wakes up, she moves like a little old lady.  The vet can hear “crunchies” when she moved her leg around and supposes that her knee cap is dislocated.   I am supposed to keep her “quiet”.  Has anyone ever met a “quiet” dachshund?  I don’t think they exist.  I get her all settled down and then she hears something and wants to run.  I have to take her back to the vet since she is still pretty pokey without the medication.

Oh no! How sad. I feel bad when animals hurt. Yes, how do you keep a dog down? Poor sweetie.

My family had a black Dachshund when I was young and he ran into a survey stake at full run opening a wound in his chest. It took some stitches and time but I fully understand what you mean about trying to keep such an active dog quiet and still. I hope recovery comes fast for Schatz.

Hope you feel better soon Miss Schatze! Try to mind your mama and not run around and you’ll get better sooner.
