REVIEW: I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

August 6, 2011 By Mary

Description

Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books—but we are real.
Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. we have lived among you without you knowing.
But they know.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.
I am Number Four.
I am next.

MY THOUGHTS
LOVED IT

Take a group of nine children from a distant planet full of good and their evil opposition of resource using and abusing monsters add in a bit of teenage romance, some serious magical powers to find a new life on Earth.  The story starts with Four who is being stalked by warriors bent on killing all of the good aliens in order to take over Earth and its resources.  There is a fight to keep them from succeeding and Earth safe.

This story is pure escapism.  Yes, it is an old tried and true Sci Fi story about good versus evil with a bit of romance thrown in and directed at teens, but it was a fun way to pass a few hours.  A lot of people always take these books too seriously.  I don’t think it is supposed to the NEXT GREAT NOVEL of the century, just something to take your mind off things and get lost in a wonderful adventure.  Can’t wait for the next one!

I agree with your opinion. It is a fun read but not anythin too complex or mind boggling.

This is already a movie, right? That was quick if it was. Looks like a good book for the end of summer!
