May 9, 2011 By Mary

Read Every Day Online Charity Auction

Twelve outstanding children’s illustrators have created their artistic interpretation of the global literacy campaign — Read Every Day. Lead a Better Life.

An online auction of the original artwork opens May 5, 2011 at 6:00pm at scholastic.com/readeveryday. Artists participating in the auction are: Norman Bridwell, Bruce Degen, Edwin Fotheringham, Mary GrandPré, Barbara McClintock, Jon J Muth, Sean Qualls, Stephen Savage, David Shannon, Jeff Smith, Mark Teague and Raina Telgemeier.
After the auction closes June 5, 2011, poster-sized reproductions will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the auction and sales of posters and other items will benefit the nonprofits Reading Is Fundamental and Reach Out and Read.

You know I would bid on the Clifford picture.  My mom collected Clifford and the bid red dog holds a special place in my heart.

Very very cool paintings. I used to collect art myself (pre-kids) but if I had a few extra bucks…
