Cynthia Eden also writes tales of paranormal suspense and erotic romance for Kensington Brava, Avon Red, and Red Sage. In college, she majored in Communication and Sociology, graduating summa cum laude and spending many hours working on the campus paper. She soon decided writing fiction was much more fun than just sticking to the facts. Later, as she traveled the long and bumpy road to romance publication, Cynthia was employed as a teacher and a college counselor. She is a member of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the RWA and Mensa. LOVED IT

 Sparks fly in this debut of a new series by Cynthia Eden!  Monica Davenport is tough and has thrown up walls to keep her isolated from the serial killers she tracks down as an FBI agent.  Luke Dante broke through the walls once and really burns through them again.  Yes, I am using a lot of fire cliches, but the story is hot, really hot. The story is an excellent blend of creepy and sexy.  Now, that is not a cliche.  I seriously was scared while reading about the serial killer Monica and Luke are teamed up to find.

 There are two more books to be released in this series.  My only big complaint is that they won’t be released until 2011.  That seems way too long to wait.  Deadly Heat will be released in February, 2011 and Deadly Lies will be released in March, 2011.

      Cynthia is a new to me author and it looks like this is her first foray into romantic suspense. I was wondering if that was a pretty natural shift from all the paranormal stories you have written? Or was it hard to let some of those topics go?

      So sorry–I meant to post this answer with my earlier response! It was a bit hard to let go of my paranormal characters when I wrote a straight romantic suspense. I love my paranormal characters, so it was very tempting to let a demon slip into the story–but I resisted the temptation!

      Hi, Lindy! Oh, I love hearing that folks have been saying good things about Deadly Fear–thank you!

      And as far as which characters are difficult to write…some characters can definitely be more challenging than others. I like writing the really strong, kick-ass heroines, but when I have to flip the coin and write about a heroine who is more vulnerable, it takes longer to get into her “head” (so to speak!)

      Let’s see…and a question I’d like ot ask a book reviewer…when do you prefer to receive books for review? Months before the release or just before the on-sale date?

      Thanks so much for stopping by. This series is off to a wonderful start, but I am sad I have to wait until next year for the next one. Do the next ones focus on more serial killers?

      Also, as a reviewer, I get books anywhere from 3 months to 3 days before a release. I appreciate when they come about a month before the review. I use a lot of post its to tag them. 🙂

      Hey, Mary! Thanks so much for posting about Deadly Fear–you’re the one who rocks!!

      Deadly Heat (book two) will follow a serial arsonist. He’s setting up a race with fire-fighters, and unfortunately, victims are getting caught in his flames. That book will be Special Agent Kenton Lake’s story.

      Then the third book, Deadly Lies, will be about Special Agent Samantha Kennedy. She will track a serial kidnapper. Sometimes, the kidnapper’s victims make it home safely. Sometimes, they aren’t so lucky.

      Question for Cynthia:

      Is it easier or harder to write the backstory for characters who already have a ‘history’ when the reader first meets them?

      As a reader, I love reunion romances, I like the instant familiarity the h/H already have on page 1.

      Hi, Scorpio/Jenma! Good question! I think it is easier to write the backstory when an established relationship is in place. That relationship creates a greater sense of intimacy for the characters, so it is easier to explore their pasts.
