Book Review: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick (180)

October 6, 2009 By Mary

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT
I received this book from the publisher. I am going to give away my ARC of this – so keep an eye out!

The cover of this book is what really got my attention and the cover pretty much tells the whole story, although it did take me a few pages to catch on to the fact that Patch is a fallen angel. Nora was a clueless until almost the end of the book, but you can see how this is necessary for the plot to develop. I was almost thinking that the story line was from a Disney movie, with an absent mother and what a fantastic theatre release this would turn out to be.

There shouldn’t be any issues with recommending this book to a younger teen reader, although there is quite a bit of sexual tension between Patch and Nora. The advance copy I received of this book ended quite nicely and then I heard that there was a new ending to accommodate a sequel. I thought the original ending left a few questions unanswered, so I was ready for one anyway. The new ending just confirms the questions. Now, I can’t wait until I get my hands on the second of a proposed trilogy.
Product Description
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.
But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.
