From W. Bruce Cameron, the author of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling novel A Dog’s Purpose, now a major motion picture!
Meet Molly–a very special dog with a very important purpose. An irresistible book for young middle grade readers adapted from A Dog’s Journey, the sequel to the bestselling A Dog’s Purpose–now a major motion picture!
Molly knows that her purpose is to take care of her girl, C.J., but it won’t be easy. Neglected by her mother, Gloria, who won’t allow her to have a dog, C.J. is going through some tough times. Molly’s job is to stay hidden in C.J.’s room, cuddle up to her at night, and protect her from bad people. And no matter what Gloria does to separate them, nothing will keep Molly away from the girl that she loves.
Adorable black-and-white illustrations by Richard Cowdrey bring Molly and her world to life. Also includes a discussion and activity guide that will help promote family and classroom discussions about Molly’s Story and the insights it provides about humankind’s best friends.
About the Author
W. BRUCE CAMERON is the New York Times bestselling author of A Dog’s Purpose, A Dog’s Journey, The Dog Master, and Ellie’s Story: A Dog’s Purpose Novel. He lives in California.
Molly is adopted into the very dysfunctional family of CJ, a young teen and without the knowledge of her mother, Gloria. The relationship between mother and daughter is very strained and Molly becomes a lifeline for CJ. Gloria doesn’t know that CJ brought the dog home and keeps her hidden. When Gloria discovers the dog, things really start to go wrong for the family. With some plot twists, and angst, Molly does her best to keep her CJ safe.
Of course, this book made me tear up a bit and like all Cameron stories, this one doesn’t disappoint. If you are a fan of dog books, you will love this one. It is in the same vein as the other books in the Dog’s Purpose series but it is directed at a much younger audience. The pace is perfect and can be read as an advanced chapter book that will keep kids interested. Expect a bit of sadness at times though.
